The Question Hand is a useful classroom tool that helps students remember question word order.
- Just hold up your hand to remind students as they try to form a question. In my class we chant, "Question word, x word, subject and verb" as we point to the appropriate fingers.
- If there is no Question Word, fold your thumb over your palm.
- If the student has forgotten to put the xword first, cross your index and middle fingers until they correct it.
- It's best to post a newsprint version of the Question Hand every day.
