The Story Behind The New X-Word Grammar Logo

The X-Word Grammar Logo

The new X-Word Grammar logo  was designed by David Marte, a recent graduate in design from Altos de Chavon in the Dominican Republic.  David has just been accepted to study at Parsons School of Design in the fall.  In summer 2012, David studied X-Word Grammar with Tamara Kirson in the English Language Studies program at The New School.  He not only developed his grammar proficiency during the semester, but he also revealed his graphic design talent in a slideshow at the end of the semester.   The idea was born!  Working in tandem with Tamara via the internet, David developed this logo which demonstrates his appreciation of X-Word Grammar and his extraordinary talent.

As David writes:  “The X-Word Grammar logo was created to be immediately identified.  It evokes a feeling of movement and power, creatively supporting the idea of X-Word Grammar as a holistic, logical, and visual approach to learning grammar for all levels of students.  The logo is easily readable, optimistic, confident and modern, representing the ideology of X-Word Grammar.”

We would like to share some wonderful reactions to our new logo!

Sue Livingston:  The selected logo brings back such wonderful memories of Linda as it reminds me of her love for the beauty and movement of the x-words.

Effie Cochran:  Thanks for the marvelous, actually brilliantly artistic and clever logo by David Marte.  Please tell him that he is a genius.

Alice Deakins:  The logo is wonderful.

We are so grateful to David for his thoughtful and elegant design work which he did pro bono.  The logo now belongs to everyone!  Please use it on anything and everything X-Word Grammar:  agendas, materials, name tags, and other uses you devise!  Thanks to Bonny Hart, the Wiki has the logos in full color and grayscale for your use as well as the template for name tags.  The name tags are Avery White Adhesive Name Badges  #8395.

We are so very lucky to have found David, a talented and caring young man on his way to honing his design abilities at Parsons!  We thank him with deep appreciation and congratulate him on the design of the X-Word Grammar logo and for his acceptance to Parsons!
