A brief note about
“Effect of X-Word Grammar and Traditional Grammar Instruction on Grammatical Accuracy”
|
How many times have those of us who use X-Word Grammar heard the question “But . . . does it work?” Well, back in 2014, several X-Word Grammar teachers decided to empirically test this question. We recruited teachers, got all sorts of permissions, put in countless hours developing reading and writing curricula, coding guidelines, statistical procedures . . . and voila . . . almost four years later . . . here we are.
The biggest take away we hope you get from this study is that X-Word Grammar offers teachers a way to do what research into second language acquisition has consistently shown to be effective . . .
- to simplify and systematize the teaching of structures,
- to directly connect grammar knowledge with grammar practice, and
- to consistently review and recycle constructs taught.
The authors and I wish you happy reading and continued success with X-Word Grammar.
